Swabi: A two-day course on Neonatal Mechanical Ventilation, aimed at strengthening neonatal care, successfully concluded at the Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI), Swabi. The course was a collaborative effort between the University of Child Health Sciences, The Children’s Hospital Lahore, and the Department of Paediatrics/Neonatology, GKMC/BKMC-MTI, Swabi.
The course covered essential topics, including both Non-Invasive and Invasive Ventilation techniques, says spokesperson of BKMC. HoD Paeds Prof. Dr. Sajjad-Ur-Rehman, Neonatologist, Dr. Inayat Ullah and Paediatrics, Dr. Haji Gul Afridi were the facilitators, while experts in the field of Neonatology Prof. Dr. Irfan Waheed, Dr. Mazhar Qadir, Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Razan, Dr. Ibahim Bin Afsar Jan and Dr. Samina Shams Alam were the master trainers for the course.
Participants from BKMC, along with attendees from Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), Qazi Hussain Ahmed Medical Complex (QHMC), Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), and other institutions, actively took part in the two-day event. “It was a wonderful hands-on experience and a skill-enhancing course,” remarked one of the participants.
The spokesperson added that the course addressed key topics such as Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), Nasal High Flow Therapy, nCPAP, nBiPAP, nIPPV, and nursing care, alongside an engaging panel discussion. “The training aimed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills necessary to provide modern, effective treatment to newborns,” he added.
Prof. Dr. Tufail Mohammad, Member of the Board of Governors (BoG) at BKMC and a renowned pediatrician, served as the chief guest and expressed his gratitude to the organizers and trainers for delivering such valuable training, said Raham Yousafzai, the spokesperson for BKMC.
The Dean, Hospital Director, and Medical Director also commended the efforts of the Pediatrics and Neonatology departments for arranging this skill-enhancing course.
At the end of the course, certificates were awarded to the participants, and the management of GKMC/BKMC presented certificates of appreciation to the master trainers, the spokesperson added.
