Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that is primarily concerned with correction of impairments and deformities. It involves a holistic approach to prevention, diagnosis and therapeutic management of pain and disorders of movement or optimization of function to enhance the health and welfare of community from an individual or population perspective.
The department of physiotherapy at BKMC was established in 2018. It provides a compassionate and comprehensive program for adults and children in overcoming physical, neurological, cognitive impairments and disabilities caused by injury or disease. The department offers thorough assessment by qualified physiotherapists and comprehensive goal oriented rehabilitation program. We help our patients by setting goals and outcomes that restore and maintain optimal independence. Our rehabilitation program is goal oriented and outcome focused. Moreover we offer structured training in the areas of personal care, health management and education, self care and training in activities of daily living, disability adjustment, physical endurance and community integration. Our rehabilitation program also includes a comprehensive home plan which involves ergonomic education and home exercise plans.
Our therapists are trained in the assessment and rehabilitation of people with developmental delays, congenital problems, acquired disabilities, and neurological, as well as musculoskeletal, and other complex disabilities. Every day we help improve daily living skills, health, and wellbeing following a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, and help those with long-term conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease.
We provide both inpatient and outpatient services. Our inpatient services include pre-op and post-op care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, gynecological rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatric care and rehabilitation as well as services in critical care areas including Intensive Care Unit, High dependency units, NICU and CCU. Our outpatient services include pain management, sports injury management, geriatric rehabilitation, women health and advance rehabilitation for different neurologic, orthopedic, musculoskeletal and pediatric conditions.
Our physiotherapy department is fully equipped with modern equipment such as shortwave diathermy, microwave diathermy, therapeutic ultrasound, electrotherapy equipment, cervical/ lumbar traction, etc. we also provide treatment through some popular means such as dry needling and kinesio taping.
