Swabi: A two-day Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) training was held at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI), organized by Nutrition International. The training aimed to equip healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills related to KMC, a vital practice for the well-being of premature and low birth-weight infants.
The event was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Amjad Mahboob, Hospital Director BKMC-MTI, Swabi. The Event Facilitator was Dr. Noreen Rasool, Associate Professor at Lahore Services Hospital, Mr. Darya Khan Provincial Coordinator Nutrition International, and Ms. Lubna Pervez, District Coordinator Nutrition International.
This training initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort involving Nutrition International, the Department of Health Swabi, and Bacha Khan Medical Complex. The active engagement and support of all stakeholders ensured the success of the training and its potential impact on maternal and infant healthcare in the region.
The training brought together a diverse group of participants, including doctors, nurses, and nutritionists from the Pediatrics and Gynecology Departments. Dr. Sajjad-Ur-Rehman, Head of the Pediatrics Department, and Dr. Parveen Shafi, Head of the Gynecology Department, played pivotal roles in rallying support for this initiative. Their dedication to the management of preterm and low-birth-weight babies is acknowledged and appreciated.
At the end of the workshop, a successful group discussion session was held, and appreciation certificates were distributed among the participants.
