The IPC Team from NIH Visits BKMC-MTI, Swabi. Expresses Satisfaction Over Infection Prevention and Control Measures in BKMC-MTI, Swabi

A team from the National Institute of Health (NIH) conducted a comprehensive visit to Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI), Swabi, on April 23, 2025, to assess infection prevention and control (IPC) practices in the hospital.

The hospital administration warmly welcomed the NIH team and ensured full facilitation throughout their visit.

The visiting team included Dr. Salim, Director DHIS, and Dr. Zia, NIH Focal Person for IPC. They were assisted by Mr. Jaan Meraj, IPC Nurse at BKMC-MTI, and Mr. Essa Khan, Manager Nursing, who facilitated the IPC team.

During the assessment, the NIH team inspected key hospital areas, including the Medical and Surgical Emergency Department, Paeds Emergency, Triage Area, NICU, Isolation Ward, Dialysis Unit, and several other critical departments.

The IPC team expressed satisfaction with the infection prevention protocols and lauded the efforts of BKMC-MTI in maintaining high standards of healthcare service delivery. They appreciated the steps taken by the institution to ensure patient and staff safety through effective infection control measures.

It is worth mentioning that this was the second visit by the IPC team. During their previous visit last year, several suggestions were highlighted. Since then, the hospital administration and medical team have worked tirelessly to address the identified gaps and enhance the hospital environment to meet IPC standards.
