Swabi: Nutrition International (NI) has supplied 60,000 bottles of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) to the District Health Office in Swabi. In alignment with the World Health Organization’s antenatal care (ANC) guidelines, MMS is recommended for the prevention of anemia in pregnant women.
Swabi became the first district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to transition from Iron Folic Acid (IFA) to MMS for preventive care, with this initiative being launched in 2021 by NI and the Directorate General Health Services (DGHS) KP.
During the event, Dr. Huma, Project Coordinator for MMS, presented the objectives and activities of the IGNIT3 Project.
The event was chaired by District Health Officer Swabi, Dr. Abdul Latif, with notable attendees including Hospital Director BKMC-MTI, Swabi, Dr. Khalid Masud, Medical Superintendent DHQ Swabi, Dr. Asif, Deputy District Health Officer Swabi, Dr. Muhammad Arif, and members of the District Health Management Team.
Representing Nutrition International, Country Director Dr. Shabina Raza, MMS Project Coordinator Miss Huma Chishti, Provincial Coordinator MNHN Program Mr. Darya Khan, PC MMS Upscale Miss Lubna Pervez, and District Coordinator MMS Swabi, Mr. Tauseef, were also present.
