A team from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) visited Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC) to assess the Neonatology and Neurosurgery departments for postgraduate training recognition.
The team was warmly received by Dean/CEO, Hospital Director, Medical Director, and senior consultants of the hospital. The visit was led by Prof. Dr. Waqar Alam Jan, Regional Director CPSP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the visit, the CPSP team toured the Emergency Department, interacted with patients, and inquired about the available facilities. They then visited the newly established Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where Dr. Inayat Ullah (Neonatologist) and Prof. Dr. Sajjad-Ur-Rehman (HoD Pediatrics) briefed them on the services being provided.
The team also assessed the Neurosurgery Department, where Dr. Adnan Ahmed (HoD) and Dr. Meewat Shah (Consultant) provided an overview of the department’s facilities and training capabilities.
The CPSP team appreciated the steady progress and continuous improvements being made at BKMC. Following a detailed assessment, the team will decide on the recognition of both departments for postgraduate training.
It is worth mentioning that seven specialties of GKMC and BKMC are already recognized by CPSP. With the addition of these two departments, the total number of recognized training programs will rise to nine, further enhancing the institution’s capacity to offer quality postgraduate medical education.
