Swabi: To provide facilities for children with clubfoot, a Clubfoot Clinic was inaugurated at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI), Swabi. The clinic was inaugurated at Chal Foundation within the hospital, with the support of Paraplegic Center Peshawar (PCP) and Miracle Feet (USA).
The inauguration ceremony took place yesterday at BKMC-MTI, Swabi, CEO PCP Dr. Ilyas Syed, Hospital Director Dr. Amjad Mahboob, Medical Director Dr. Shahid Nisar Khalid, Dr. Amir Zeb PT (Director Rehab/Clubfoot Program Coordinator PCP), and Associate Professor Orthopedics and Clubfoot Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Saqib and other officials were present at the occasion.
CEO PCP Dr. Ilyas Syed and MD BKMC-MTI Dr. Shahid Nisar Khalid cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the clinic, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed between the hospital administration and the supporting organizations. CEO PCP assured that PCP will provide all the materials and technical support to BKMC to ensure free-of-cost clubfoot services to the end users.
Clubfoot Coordinator, Dr. Saqib highlighted that the new clinic will benefit the people of Swabi and surrounding districts, offering successful and free treatment for children with clubfoot issues. He said patient registration will be required to access the free treatment.
According to the spokesperson, there will be a specialized outpatient department (OPD) for children with clubfoot every Wednesday. If the number of patients increases, additional OPD days will be scheduled. He said that previously, an HIV Family Care Center and a TB Center were also established for patient care. With the addition of the Clubfoot Clinic, another vital service is now available at the hospital.
