Following the recent recognition by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for FCPS training in the Department of Neonatology at BKMC-MTI, Swabi, a consultative meeting was held to discuss the way forward for the newly accredited department.

The meeting was chaired by renowned pediatrician and Member of the Board of Governors (BoG) of GKMC/BKMC, Prof. Dr. Tufail Muhammad.

The Chair congratulated the entire teams of Pediatrics and Neonatology for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to providing the best possible healthcare services to neonates.

The meeting was attended by the Dean/CEO, Hospital Director, Nursing Director, HoD Pediatrics, HoD Neonatology, HoD Gynecology, HoD Infectious Diseases, and Secretary BoG.

The meeting focused on HR recruitment, clinical protocols, and MOUs with other accredited departments. Tele-consultation, equipment procurement, and grand rounds were also discussed. Plans for staff training and capacity-building workshops were emphasized.

The Chair appreciated the suggestions from the Management and HoDs. All participants agreed to work together to enhance the Neonatal Unit and Labor Room, ensuring quality neonatal care for the community.

The Chair also thanked UNICEF for its continued support to BKMC, acknowledging their commitment, assistance, and collaboration across various projects.
