Swabi: To strengthen and streamline the functioning of the BKMC Emergency Department (ER), a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Hospital Director Dr. Khalid Masud. The meeting was attended by all duty managers, Director ER, Bed Management Officer, and Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance, along with representatives from both THQ hospitals.

Director ER, Dr. Razik Shah, provided a comprehensive overview of the ER, covering both the Surgical and allied and Medical and allied. He also highlighted several issues, including staff shortages, equipment deficiencies, and a lack of coordination between THQ hospitals.

Dr. Raziq Shah stated that the BKMC-MTI currently has 52 beds in its ER. Despite these limited resources, the ER staff continues to efficiently cater to trauma and emergency healthcare needs.

The Bed Management Officer raised concerns about the availability of beds and the retention of patients.

The Hospital Director emphasized the need for proper communication and coordination between THQs to establish a mechanism for patient referral systems.

Furthermore, the Hospital Director suggested that the ER staff visit the ER at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) to observe their services and practices.
