KP CM lays foundation stone for Gajju Khan Medical College Swabi.
Swabi: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Mahmood Khan laid the foundation stone of the Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi district on Monday 5 September 2022.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in Gajju Khan Medical College. KP CM along with the former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaisar, provincial minister for education Shahram Tarakai and Health Minister Taimur Jaghra were also present on the occasion.
The Dean / CEO Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rahman, hospital director Dr. Amjad Mahboob and members board of governors welcomed the delegation led by KP CM. The Management briefed the CM about the Medical College.
Dean / CEO GKMC-MTI said that the medical college spread over 17 acres will be set up at an estimated cost of 2.6 billion. We will try our best to have every facility available in the college, present more than 80 medical students are studying in the college which is running for several years in the hospital building, Dean Added.
The CM said that KP government is committed to improving the provincial health infrastructure. The medical college will help people of the region on a mass scale, CM Added
On this occasion, CM KP, Directed officials to ensure the time-bound completion of work. The chief minister said that the institute will be a step toward his government’s commitment to providing quality medical facilities to the common man. The CM said that with the setting up of the medical college, Swabi will emerge as a hub of medical education in the region.
The spokesperson of GKMC said, that the medical college with 80 students is already functioning since 2016 from a temporary building belonging to BKMC-MTI.
The CM along with Ex NA Speaker and Cabinet members also paid a visit to the newly established Accident and Emergency (A&E), Burn Unit and inquired about the provision of health facilities over there. The CM appreciated the efforts being made by the management in the new emergency department.
