Swabi: The Department of Surgery and Allied at GKMC/BKMC-MTI, Swabi held a meeting with all Heads of Departments (HoDs), including Director ER, Casualty, Anaesthesia, Pharmacy, SCP, Gynae, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, and Neurology.

The Dean/CEO and Hospital Director also attended the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various issues and find solutions. Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Khan, raised concerns regarding the pharmacy, operating theaters (OT), and the shortage of staff and equipment. Each HoD also discussed their departmental challenges in detail.

Chairman Department of Surgery Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Khan requested the opening of new Surgical ICUs and OTs to manage the increasing number of surgeries. He also emphasized the urgent need for new hiring to ensure the smooth functioning of the department. Similarly, HoD from each department discussed issues and problems of their respective department’s details as follows:

It was suggested that a dedicated OT manager should be hired to manage the OTs effectively. The Hospital Director provided some recommendations and assured full cooperation in addressing the issues for the betterment of the hospital.
