23rd BOG GKMC/BKMC-MTI, Swabi Meeting Held at Conference Room.

Swabi: The 23rd Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of GKMC/BKMC-MTI, Swabi, was held on January 8, 2025, under the chairmanship of Major General (Rtd) Muhammad Salah-Uddin Qasim. BoG members Prof. Dr. Tufail Muhammad, Dr. Almas Fasih Khattak, Mr. Irfan Salim Khan, and the management of GKMC/BKMC-MTI attended the meeting.

The Chairman introduced two newly appointed members of the BoG, Mr. Irfan Salim Khan and Dr. Almas Fasih Khattak, both selected by the KP Policy Board. The chairman welcomed them and highlighted their expertise, which will contribute to the institution’s progress.

The Dean/CEO, Hospital Director, Medical Director, Director Finance, Nursing Director, AHDs of Allied Teaching Hospitals, and Administrative Managers presented comprehensive progress reports. The Dean/CEO briefed the forum on the recruitment of essential faculty positions required by PMDC, which received approval from the chair.

The Medical Director highlighted the implementation of the rationalization policy to enhance healthcare services at BKMC and THQs. The Hospital Director provided updates on plans for fair-price pharmacies, IT infrastructure improvements, and the shifting of the old OT to the new ORs and surgical units, which are expected to be operational by February 2025. The chair stressed the urgency of necessary hiring to ensure smooth operations in the new ORs.

The Nursing Director’s agenda included establishing a central admission point and improving bed management. The chair discussed these matters, and decisions were made accordingly.

The Principal of Nigar College of Nursing also provided details and outlined the requirements of the nursing college. The forum discussed these matters thoroughly and made several important decisions.

Additionally, the chair approved the formation of new committees and their respective members during the meeting.

The Pharmacy Manager provided details about fair-price pharmacies and Manager MIS provided details about enhancing IT infrastructure for HMIS.

The Chairman also visited the newly established Student Learning Resource Center (SLRC), designed for KMU MBBS online exams. During the visit, the Dean and Manager MIS briefed the chairman on the center’s functionality. The Chairman appreciated their efforts in establishing this valuable resource.
