Swabi: World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25th, serves as a global platform to raise awareness about malaria and mobilize resources for its treatment and prevention.
This year’s theme, “Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for A More Equitable World,” emphasizes the urgent need to intensify efforts to eradicate malaria and promote equity in access to prevention and treatment.
In this regard, an awareness walk was conducted at BKMC-MTI to spread awareness among the public. The Hospital Director, Associate Dean, Microbiology team, and other administrative staff took part in the walk.
BKMC-MTI’s Microbiology Department has played a crucial role in this fight by conducting over 9,000 tests, with 2,148 yielding positive results. Among these, 2,049 cases were attributed to Plasmodium vivax, while 99 were identified as Plasmodium falciparum infections.
Let’s unite against malaria and spread awareness among the masses.
