WHO and Oxford (UK) delegation visited BKMC-MTI
Swabi: To study The Burden of Antibiotic Resistance in Neonatal from developing societies (phase ii) the delegation comprised Professor “Timothy Rutland Walsh” (Professor of Medical Microbiology and Antibiotic Resistance, Director of Biology, IOI AMR Sir William Dunn School of Pathology University of Oxford, along with his team visited Bacha Khan Medical Complex on 6 December 2022. Hospital Director Dr. Amjad Mahboob welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the health infrastructure in the hospital.
Professor Timothy R Walsh presented the details of the study and its anticipated benefits to Hospital Director, HOD Paeds, HOD, Neonatologist, Gynae and Microbiologist.
The delegation visited the “Microbiology Lab” newly established in New Accident & Emergency department. Microbiologist Dr. Asim Ali Shah and his team gave a comprehensive briefing to the delegation regarding the culture test which is conducting in the Lab. They also visited the molecular Lab.
The delegation appreciated the efforts being made by the management of BKMC-MTI regarding research initiatives and the provision of healthcare services.
Both the Teams will work on a joint study project for the next few months which will be helpful to find out organisms in Neonatal Sepsis. This will help in developing future strategies to curtain AMR and Neonatal Deaths.
