Pakistan’s first female Lieutenant General (R), Nigar Johar Khan, inaugurated “Nigar College of Nursing” affiliated with her name in Swabi.
Swabi: To address the shortage of nursing in Swabi and fulfill the need for nursing education, the first government-level “Nigar College of Nursing” was inaugurated with the name of Lieutenant General (R) Nigar Johar Khan. The inauguration ceremony took place in the auditorium of the hospital, attended by personalities from various walks of life.
The ceremony, attended by Lieutenant General (R) Nigar Johar, highlighted that it is an honor for her to inaugurate a nursing college affiliated with her name. Nigar Johar Khan assured full support with the administration of BKMC/GKMC-MTI Swabi for cooperation with Nigar College of Nursing.
Advisor to CM for Health Dr. Riaz Anwar, Member PMDC, and Chairman BOG MTI LRH Dr. Muhammad Zubair Khan along with former and current BOGs MTI Swabi attended the event.
Advisor to CM for Health addressed the ceremony, stating that efforts are being made to address the shortage of trained nurses in Pakistan by establishing a government-level nursing college. He informed that currently, there is a shortage of one million nurses in Pakistan, and it is a relief that individuals are pursuing nursing as a profession.
Dean/CEO Prof. Dr. Shams-ur-Rehman expresses his gratitude to the esteemed guest and provides comprehensive details of the success and purpose-built building of the GKMC-MTI, Swabi.
According to the spokesperson, regular admissions have started in the College, and it is an approved college by the Pakistan Nursing Council and other relevant authorities, offering all nursing courses according to modern standards. At present, admissions for BScN, Post-RN, and LHV courses are ongoing in the college.
At the end of the ceremony, the participants toured the Nigar College of Nursing, and the principal of Nigar Nursing College provided a detailed briefing to the attendees.
