GKMC-MTI Delegation visits to Government school for “Deaf and Dumb” children Swabi.
Swabi: Fourth-year Students delegation from GKMC led by Dr. Sajjad, Dr. Waqar, and Dr. Zainab visited a government facility for Deaf and Dumb children, visually impaired, and with learning disabilities with challenging behavior Swabi.
The staff and the children welcomed the delegation and they were overwhelmed by this visit as this was the first visit of this kind.
Dr. Sajjad said that these children can’t see, can’t hear, and can’t speak, so these disabilities are hidden and these children are ignored, so we the GKMC-MTI staff and students took this initiative to be ears, eyes, and voice for these children.
School In-charge Zia-Ul-Haq and Zulfiqar welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the day-to-day activities in the school. The delegation appreciated the efforts of the current staff, to manage and deliver the services to these children with such limited resources.
Dr. Sajjad, Dr. Waqar, and Dr. Zainab pledge that we will provide any kind of cooperation and will raise their issues with relevant authorities. The delegation will try to motivate the local community to play their role.
In the near future, the GKMC-MTI staff and students will collect the data and will do their research studies to determine the prevalence of these disabilities because if we know the exact magnitude of these disabilities then the relevant authorities can assist accordingly.
Dean/CEO GKMC-MTI Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rahman appreciated the initiative of such visits and emphasized improving the collaboration of the college with the local government organizations.
