4 Bedded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Established and inaugurated at BKMC-MTI

Swabi: To fill the shortage of intensive care units for children in Swabi, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has been established and inaugurated at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI) on Tuesday, 5 July 2022.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the Peads Unit, Medical Director inaugurated the 4 bedded PICU along with Hospital Director Dr. Amjad Mehboob, Dean/CEO Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rehman, HOD peads Dr. Sajjad-Ur-Rehman and other members of the unit.

Head of Pediatric department Associate Prof. Dr. Sajjad-Ur-Rehman briefed the forum about the new Peads ICU. It is worth mentioning that the PICU is the 2nd Intensive care facility of its Nature in the province after LRH-MTI, Peshawar.

The four bedded P-ICU is equipped with state-of-the-art ventilators and advanced syringe pumps to administer essential medicines, said HOD Peads.

cians supported by a team of nurses to ensure that no child is left alone, HOD added.

The facility will allow specialists to be available to treat ailing children and create a more comfortable environment for parents seeking the best treatment for their children, said Medical Director Dr. Shahid Nisar.

Speaking about the impact of Picu, the BKMC-MTI hospital director remarked that it is an integral part of the institute’s commitment to the health of children. “This focus on children’s health through the provision of intensive care for children which is a key part of our services and education as well as research,” HD said.
