SWABI: Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) Bacha Khan Medical Complex provided free medical treatment to 480,280 patients in the year 2022,
Data released from January to June 2022 by the Media & Communication department of BKMC-MTI revealed that in the year 2022, more than 182,000 Accident victims were treated in Accident & Emergency (A&E) while 300,280 patients were facilitated in Out Patients Department (OPD).
Most of the patients in OPD were reported to the Medical, Paeds, Skin, Orthopedic, and Cardiology department while other departments also received patients in OPD. According to the annual data 32,600 patients were admitted in different wards, highest number 46,724 patients were admitted to medical, Paeds 44,761, Skin 25,660, Orthopedic 18,367, and 12,857 patients in the Gynae department.
According to annual data, about 4,000 surgical procedures were performed in the hospital, and the highest number of surgeries was 990, done in general surgery, 655 EYE, 619 Orthopedic, and 610 surgeries done in the ENT department.
To facilitate more patients within the hospital, the Institute-based practice (IBP) is in full swing, more than 13,000 patients availed facility in evening (IBP), now 23 specialist doctors are available in the evening from 3 pm to 8 PM that enabling the patients to get better healthcare in the hospital. Spokesperson added.
In 2022, more than 610,350 investigations were done in the hospital including X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT scan, CBC, ECG, ECHO, ETT, RBS, Lab, CJT, Digital X-Ray, Litho, Endoscopy, mammography, physiotherapy, skin laser, and other facilities were provided to patients.
Data revealed that the virology department performed 23,541 covid-19 tests in 2022 and 1350 culture tests performed in the newly established microbiology laboratory inaugurated in Sep 2022.
The hospital showed a significant increase in Sehat Sahulat Program (SSP) more than 21000 patients were treated for free through KP Sehat Sahulat Program in 2022, data revealed that 57 percent of admitted patients were facilitated through SPP, said spokesperson.
Referring to the performance report, the Spokesperson said the hospital was given the status of MTI in April 2021, and in a very short period, a clear difference is visible in treatment, hygiene, and other facilities.
After being declared MTI and run by the Board of Governors (BOG), the hospital improved its services and increased the number of outdoor patients (OPDs) from 1000 to 1700 per day, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson termed 2022 as a year of success in terms of achieving many important milestones, besides the gaining trust and confidence of the people in the provision of healthcare services, we have crossed several important milestones in 2022.
A new emergency with modern equipment was built and functionalized, and now most emergency cases were brought here from all the district, statistic shows that per-day emergency increased from 300 to 700 in 2022, the spokesperson added.
Considering the increasing number of patients, Filter Clinics were built where facilities are provided to the patients without wasting time. The spokesperson added.
The spokesperson went on to say that after the successful visit of the CPSP team to BKMC-MTI, we got accreditation of three departments. “The CPSP approved the hospital for imparting FCPS training in Infectious Disease, E.N.T, and Ophthalmology based on a physical inspection conducted on 22 Dec 2022”.
